http://www.crystalinks.com/greekastronomy.html, this is a great article focusing on the Ancients way of reading the stars I especially enjoyed near the end where they put the house circle in its’ original placement of how it was dating back to the time of the Babylonians.

According to the Ancient house system the night is the side of the chart, we today call the Eastern Hemisphere of the chart, having Cancer in the 10th house, Leo in the 11th, Virgo in the 12th, Libra in the 1st, Scorpio in the 2nd and Sagittarius in the 3rd house.  On what we know today as the Western Hemisphere we have Capricorn ruling the 4th house, Aquarius in the 5th house, Pisces in the 6th house, Aries in the 7th, Taurus in the 8th house, and Gemini in the 9th (which according to the Ancients is one of the signs associated to astrology and the occult ruled by the 9th house from Ancients) and if we look at the ninth house it is above the horizon and on the day side, and its colours are yellow’s, lavender’s and orange’s, and then we have Virgo the other Mercurial sign is on the night side and in its natural house the 12th, this was the original sign of the colour black.  Remember, this is when we look at the Ancient Babylonians layout as according to the speed of the signs, and the location of fixed stars and whether it be a nocturnal or diurnal sign.
empedI have read charts and have those clients whose charts line up when I put in their information that line up to the original way in how they sat from the original Babylonian and they are some of the most powerful and prosperous charts for people.
When we look at this image we see the night side to the left and to the Babylonians this is what is known as the slow side of the chart and on the day side would be the fast side.  However, today when we look at charts it has shifted and we now associate diurnal to those house that are above the Horizon and night to below the luminaries with a blending of after noon and mid evening to bring planets over into the eastern and western hemisphere houses.
Astrology is the oldest and most difficult form of divination and the reading of global, medical, political events as well as reading the nature and path of an individual in what experiences they will have in their lifetime and with each year being analysed to see what events will occur in the coming year; promotions, family, new friends, and so much more.

Another great article to read on the Zodiac and the Signs is from Manly P. Hall from his work Secrets Teachings of All Ages a must have for any serious Occultist and student of the ways of the Old Religionists.  You may read an article from the site Sacred Texts here from this work http://www.sacred-texts.com/eso/sta/sta12.htm.
